Gel batteries require special chargers that also control the batteries when they are not in use. The charger continuously measures and checks the battery voltage, maintaining a constant value. The gel charger protects the battery from overcharging or unwanted gas development. When the charging process is complete, the charger switches to pulse charging mode and provides the battery with a trickle charge.
